A fun and rainy, rainy weekend...

I attended my first class at Aurora Sewing Center Saturday.  What a treat !  It was a Hot Ribbon Quilting Class instructed by Lennie Honcoop from California.  She is amazing to say the least.  I was curious about the class as it includes copic markers to make these wonderful wall hangings.

Hot Ribbon Art is an iron-on, no sew, 1/8" wide ribbon that can be used to finish the raw edges of applique. Imported from Japan, Hot Ribbon is gaining in popularity with quilters who like to finish off their projects quickly and have a dramatic look.  This was the leaf that we appliqued in class on to black fabric and outlined with the hot ribbon.  After this process you color the ribbon to match the fabric and create the dramatic look below with Lennie's finished project.

This picture does not do this wall hanging quilt justice, it is JUST beautiful !

I went for a ride in the back 40 and found this fun bush of milk weeds.  When Peter was two we rubbed them together and tossed them up in the air.  He asked to go back the next day and play with the "cow feathers" his named version of milk weeds.  :)

Glorious, glorious SUNSHINE and a splashing of RED and YELLOW against the very BLUE sky.

How precious is this picture?  Peter and his new little brother James!  How full my heart is !

A fun rainy afternoon of coloring with My Big Girl Crayons !

Hey Deb (the most amazing copic artist who has taught me all the wonders of copic markers), this is for you.  I found a way to put a hole in each block of color so you can match up the paper!!!  whooo whoooo!  Two thumbs up?  :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE coloring with my big girl crayons

Bella decided to sit in the glorious sun this morning while I colored a little...with my morning java.

Ok, is is just me?  But, don't you LOVE this image?  Perhaps it is those long dark winter months but I want to be her and sipping a perfectly made cosmo.  This and the images below were purchased from Mo Manning's new digital stamp web site .  Check it out.  The paper that I will make the card from is My Minds Eye, Penny Lane.  Ok, so those of you that know me "I HOPE to make the card"  I love to color the images and watch them come to life but I think I need to find someone to work a deal with.  I will color the images and they can make the card..whatcha think?  I have several hundred images, just check out below for the copics markers that I used.

I have several weddings coming up this summer so I am planing ahead for some beautiful cards, isn't this flower girl just precious?

Two more images from Mo's Manning's digital stamp site.

So this is the view from the back of the house...all I see is sunshine and blue sky, what snow?
Have a great day!

big girl markers...copics

So, it seems as far as card making and scrapbooking, copic markers are the rage.  I like to call them my "big girl" markers.  I was introduced to them while taking a class at Buffalo Stamps & Stuff  (applause please, I added my first link properly).  This store is more than just a stamp store, it is like spending time with family.  It is the "stuff" in the name of the business that makes it so special.  When you are looking for that "something special" to add the right touch, they have it.  The classes are fun and productive.  I have learned so much and found more "sane" moments  than I ever thought possible.  A sigh, and a thank you inserted here.

As you can see I have a rather large collection of them and I just discovered a new way to store them.  It also works great to take them to different rooms of the house or to a class.  I cannot remember the name of the blog that I found this idea on...but I will add it later.  There are so many many blogs out there that it is hard to keep track of them, at least form this new girl on the block.  So be patient while I learn the tricks of the blogging trade.  I promise I will try to make it fun!

I also created this new mini copic journal to keep with my markers for easy reference.  Otherwise I have a 3 ring binder that holds my steps through the copic discovery.
